Corsages and Head Bands

When we started Afternoon Tea, we knew we loved head wear - we didn't realised how much headwear would start stepping into every day fashion. We want to share all the tips and tricks we know in a new workshop, either completely dedicated to head bands, or alongside our existing fascinator workshop.

Another class we've added to the mix is the Corsage class, this teaches you to make the most beautiful corsages for any occasion. Another great choice for hen parties, this is a fun workshop that allows room for lots of laughter and less concentration!

For the new year, Afternoon Tea is spreading its wings and now it's classes will include vintage hair and make up lessons, more suited for smaller groups, these will be taught by our fully qualified and working make up artist. She will talk you through a variety or techniques and tricks to maintain that beautiful holly wood look.

We're now fully booked for the second Fascinator making workshop on 1 August 2009. The first workshop, led by Lisa Margreet, saw our afternoon tea crowd create a dramatic viola fascinator using merry widow veiling and very velvet ribbon.

I took a rare day off today to head to Bury St Edmonds to find suits for my upcoming wedding. We stumbled upon the most lovely tea rooms called Harriets. The waitresses were dressed in vintage waitress outfits and the someliers dressed to the nines in suits. Gorgeous.

As I popped to the bathroom, I put my request in for a cup of Earl Grey and a prawn sandwich. When the food arrived, I was a little suspicious. Why were they giving me so many plates? My lovely husband to be had surprised me with a champagne afternoon tea. I couldn't recommoned Harriets more if you're looking for a classic, not to mention calorific, afternoon tea. What a lovely way to spend a drisly Monday outside of London!

Based at the dreamspace gallery, a boutique design gallery nestled in creative Clerkenwell, Love Vintage and Afternoon Tea will organise lunch, cakes, crafts and lots of champagne bubbles for an inventive, craft afternoon tailored to the brides requirements. All crafts will be taught by experienced teachers.

Vintage films, photograph slideshows, customised playlists, fun decorations, goody bags and lots of crafts to choose, Afternoon Tea Hen Parties are perfect for those looking for something different and fun to do for the Bride to be.

Craft ideas include:

Knitting and/or Crochet:
Create knitted or crochet cupackes and pile high for an alternative non-edible wedding cake. Or create invididual knitted or crochet squares tp piece together a blanket to keep the bride and groom cosy.

Fascinator Making:
Create your own hedpieces for the upcoming wedding. Experienced teachers will show you how to create a unique and personal piece for your friends special day.

Papercraft and Cardmaking:
Create your own vintage bunting for the bride to use for her own wedding. Each bunting shape can be created with a personal message for the birde and groom to keep for future celebrations. Alternatively, our creative papercraft could help you create beautiful thank you cards or wedding congratulations cards.

Cupcake Decorating:
An old favourite! After a light lunch of sandwiches and a glass of fizz, decorate your own cupcakes for an extra special treat.

Creative Card Making : Make Your Own

Fed up with spending a small fortune on premium cards? If you're looking for something a bit more special, not to mention cost effective, why not learn how to make your own at our card making craft workshop?

Vintage inspired craft force, Afternoon Tea, is hosting a one day craft course in creative card making, taught by renowned card maker, Kim Dellow. The craft workshop will take place in EC1, London, on Saturday 27 June 2009 between 11am and 4pm.

You will enter a beginner and leave an expert. Armed with five coordinating vintage inspired designs to wow anyone receiving a birthday card or simple note to say hello.

All materials will be provided. And of course there will be tea and cakes too. Afternoon Tea craft afternoons aim to provide a crafty forum for people to learn new skills and find new friends.

We were so inspired and intrigued by the exhibition, we've decided to give it a go ourselves. If you're interested in making your own fascinators, we've teamed up with Lisa Margreet of Craft Guerilla to hold a one-off fascinator workshop at the dreamspace gallery on Saturday 6th June, 12pm - 4pm.

Whether you have a summer wedding to attend or simply want to stand out in a crowd, we'll supply the materials, teacher, tea and cakes.

For £25.00, you'll come away with your own fascinator and lots of skills.

Afternoon Tea is proud to announce its latest 'crafternoon' sessions at the dreamspace gallery.

By popular request, we have booked in Intermediate Knitting for the more experienced knitters eager to develop to the next stage. The first intermediate session will take place on Saturday 13th June 2009, from 11am. Learn how to knit a pair of fabulous socks, and embellish with as much embroidery as you dare. The session costs £40.00 including materials.

For something a little different, join us on Saturday 27th June 2009 for creative card making. You'll learn how to cut, curl and create three fantastic designs suitable for a number of occasions. Learn the basic to intermediate skills necessary to make personal, unique handcrafted cards with an experienced teacher. The session costs £25 including materials. And of course, tea.
